mifem opening event
On 17 April 2026, we held our opening event in Kassel as mifem e.V. Under the title "A New Chapter After 40 Years", we celebrated three important developments together: the 40th anniversary of Türkischer Frauenverein e.V., the 40th anniversary of the Beratungszentrum für türkische Mädchen, Frauen und Familien, and the re-establishment of mifem e.V. In doing so, we embraced a strong legacy from the past while also welcoming the beginning of a new chapter together.

The event began with a musical performance from Anatolia, moderated by our member Şengül Ay. This was followed by a welcome address from Nicole Maisch, Deputy Mayor of Kassel. Carolina Rojas Ravello from VIVA Stiftung also gave a welcome address, highlighting the importance of migrant women's organisations. Senay Ataç-Geiger, one of the founders and former board members of Türkischer Frauenverein e.V., then shared insights into the organisation's founding process and its work. Handan Uyar-Ommert from the Beratungszentrum für türkische Mädchen, Frauen und Familien reflected on the counselling centre's 40-year history and work. The final speech was given by our Chair, Dr Melehat Kutun, who explained how mifem emerged after more than 40 years of history.
Following the speeches, we thanked everyone and continued the event with musical accompaniment and a shared buffet. In this way, we created a meaningful gathering that brought together experiences from the past, solidarity, and mifem's new chapter.
